wrap the egg in scrunched paper, tape together


then make a paper cone; with the pointy end facing towards the ground drop the egg (and its wrapping) inside the cone.


fix the egg in place inside the cone


then fix more scrunched paper were the egg is closest to the side of the cone...and maybe a little more inside the cone


throw the egg with the pointed end facing down towards the ground


it worked for us.
