Ok... this doesn't have to be an african mask, it can be any kinds of mask. I just don't know how to make a mask out of paper mache. I know that you first mix up newspaper and water glue...right? Then i don't get the next steps (:

real easy i did this in 6th grade art,i hope i can remember this u need some gluey water stuff wich i forgot wht it was then you would need a balloon and some tape and obviously, newspaper.start realy slow and rip peices of the newspaper and dip it into the glue and apply them to the ballon(make sure to blow up the balloon and tape it to a table) keep adding more and more pieces of paper and make sure they are long strips.i think you have to make about five layers.to make one layer just add the strips and wait for the glue to dry.
oh ya i forgot and also u need to draw the shape of the face you want on the ballonHow do you make an african mask out of paper mache?
Mask to hang...simple; cut an oval of heavy mat board. glue another piece of mat board cut and folded to form a nose to the center of the oval. layer paper mache to form features and paint. mask to wear: vaseline your partner's face, apply strips of news print that have been soaked in liquid starch - keep nostrils clear, allow to set. Carefully remove base from partner's face and stuff with crumpled newsprint to protect form. When completely dry layer more strips to firm the base then start building up features with more paper mache...this time soaked in elmer's glue. Let dry and measure 1/3rd of the length of the mask and punch a hole on each side and paint to suit.
