Newspaper, Flour, and water.

Cut the newspaper into strips, and it is up to you what you want it shaped like.

Santa Mask

Create a Santa Claus mask using a paper plate.

Materials Needed:

Paper Plates

Crayons or Markers

Paper

Cotton Balls

Yarn

Glue

Instructions:

Hold the paper plate up to your face and have someone make dots where your eyes are. Cut out small holes around the dots so you can see out of your mask. Draw a face in the center on the back side of the paper plate. Start by drawing the eyes where your eye holes are.

Print out the Santa's hat pattern below and color it; or, use the pattern below to cut Santa's hat out of red and white construction paper. Glue the hat onto the top edge of the paper plate, just above the eyes.

For Santa's hair, beard, and mustache, glue cotton balls around the edge of your paper plate. Let the glue dry completely.

Use a scissors or hole punch and make 2 small holes on the edge of your paper plate mask where your ears will be. Cut 2 pieces of yarn about 2 feet long. Slip one end of a piece of yarn through the hole you punched and tie it into a knot. Repeat with the other piece of yarn. Use the yarn to tie the mask onto your face. How do you make a paper machie mask???

So that the mask will fit your own face, start with some sort of wire mesh. Chicken wire is a good start but may be difficult to work with. Once you have the form, then follow the instructions others have given you for newspaper and flour and water. You can also make a form out of dough, made with flour water and a lot of salt. make a large sheet of it and while it is still flexible, form it over your face, remember to have someone cut little holes in it to breath through. Little holes for the nose and a straw for the mouth. Be patient while it dries a while and hope you are not clostrophobic. when the mask is dry enough to remove so that it doesn't lose shape, remove it.At this point you can bake the mask base on low heat until it is set completely. Cover this mask with petroleum jelly and start placing the newspaper soaked in flour and water paste mixture over the mask. When the paper mache has dried, it will lift off the base mask, asssuming enough petroleum jelly was used. The base can be used again for another mask.
