How would you make a kitsune mask out of paper without papermachai?

im realy intersted in japanese masks and i wanna make one any one know how to?How would you make a kitsune mask out of paper without papermachai?
I don't think it's possible to make the mask out of paper without papier mach茅... At the very least you'll need to wet the paper to change its shape and put some glue on it to make it hold the new shape, and this is easier to do if the paper's cut into pieces, which very much defines papier macch茅. Origami won't work because you'll get edges where there shouldn't be any in the kitsune mask. Unless you switch to clay or some other material, I don't think you can make a ';good'; kitsune mask. The only way to make it on paper alone would be to cut the shape out on paper and draw a face over it, but you could hardly call that a kitsune mask.
